Although I have had great success with direct SEO marketing, using the lists I have created have definitely been more of a challenge, here’s some advice on running your email marketing.
Even though email marketing has tremendous potential; the bottom line is you need to get them opened so the magic can happen. We’ll be covering some suggestions and strategies for creating subject lines that will put more punch in your messages.
Sometimes there’s a desperate feeling when you’re trying to compose a winning subject line, and some marketers have had success with giving something away for free. One of the reason there is a hesitation with using the (free) word in a subject line is that some feel they may viewed upon with some negativity. Sure, that word has been used to death in IM, but the thrill of getting a free gift is still present in people, and you should still use it in a subject line – but not all the time. However, there are still ways to get your point across if you just cannot bring yourself to use the F word in the subject line. Zero cost to you, or maybe even ‘no cost’ or ‘zero price’ would do the trick quite nicely. Those are valid alternatives, so there is nothing wrong with expressing the idea in those terms. In fact, it could prove to be highly effective, and giving away free stuff to your list will always increase the value of it and help your subscribers trust you more. Do a test and try it on a small percentage of your list and ask for feedback, or you can easily monitor your metrics. Your email’s subject line should be as honest as it can get. Write it in such a way that people will immediately know what the email is all about. Always provide a smooth transition into your email without any worries or guessing about what it’s about. Your subject line should be able to connect to the main content of your email so that the prospects don’t feel that they’ve been misinformed. Perhaps one good exercise is to learn, which you’re doing now, study other emails written by marketers, and then practice writing your own.
You need to ensure that your subject line syncs up with the “from” line. This is because there’s a lot of spam going around on the Internet and people want to be sure of who they are receiving their email from.
So by doing this you would erase any doubts that your prospect has in mind, which will obviously make it easier for you to get your email read. Sometimes people forget which lists they have subscribed to so you need to make sure that they can clearly associate the “from” line with your subject lines.
Email marketing can be tough if you don’t know what you’re doing, so be sure to keep learning all the time if you can.
Remember that sometimes you’ll get it wrong, but just like me in my ongoing search for roulette systems that work, every failure means I can cross another one off the list. Knowledge of what doesn’t work is sometimes as valuable as what doesn’t.
